Essay on Subhash Chandra Bose – Short and Long

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was born on 23 January 1897 and died on 18 August 1945. He was only 48 years old when he died. He was a great Indian nationalist leader who fought courageously against the British rule during the Second World War for India’s independence. Netaji was a free-spirited, youth and core leader of the Indian National Congress during 1920 and 1930. He became Congress President in 1938 although he was removed in 1939. Netaji was a revolutionary freedom fighter from India who fought a lot and inspired a large Indian population to fight for freedom.

Subhash Chandra Bose was one of the greatest man and brave freedom fighter in Indian history. His great contribution to the freedom struggle in India’s history is unforgettable. He was indeed a true brave hero of India who gave up his home and rest for the sake of his motherland. He always believed in violence and chose the path of military rebellion to get freedom from British rule.

He was born on 23 January 1897 in Cuttack, Orissa to a rich Hindu family. His father was Janaki Nath Bose who was a successful barrister and mother Prabhavati Devi was a housewife. He was once expelled from the Calcutta Presidency College for his involvement in an attack on the British Principal. He had passed the ICS examination in a brilliant manner but left him and joined the Non-Cooperation Movement in 1921 to join the freedom struggle of India.

Netaji worked with Chittaranjan Das, a political leader, teacher, and journalist in Bengal Weekly called Bangalar Katha. He was later appointed as the Volunteer Commandant of the Bengal Congress, the Principal of the National College, the Mayor of Calcutta and then the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation.

He had to go to jail many times for his nationalist activities but he was never weary and disappointed. Netaji was elected as the President of the Congress but due to some political differences he was opposed by Gandhiji. He moved to East Asia where he prepared his “Azad Hind Fauj” to make India an independent country.

Subhash Chandra Bose is known as Netaji all over India. He was a revolutionary man of India who contributed a lot to the independence of India. He was born on 23 January 1897 in a rich Hindu family of Cuttack in Orissa.

His father’s name was Janakinath Bose, a government lawyer in the Cuttack District Court and mother’s name was Prabhavati Devi. Subhash took his early education from the Anglo Indian School in Cuttack and received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the Scottish Church College, University of Calcutta. 

He was a brave and ambitious Indian youth who successfully joined the Non-Cooperation Movement after being influenced by Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das for the independence of his motherland despite having passed the ICS exam. They continued to fight in a violent movement against British rule for our independence.

He left the Congress despite being President of the Congress in 1930 due to some political differences with Mahatma Gandhi. One day Netaji formed his own Indian National powerful party ‘Azad Hind Fauj’ because he believed that Gandhi’s non-violent policy was not capable of making India a free country. Finally, he created a large and powerful “Azad Hind Fauj” to fight the British rule.

He went to Germany and formed the Indian National Army with the help of some Indian prisoners of war and Indians living there. After much disappointment by Hitler, he went to Japan and gave a famous slogan to his Indian National Army, “Delhi Chalo” where a violent fight took place between the Azad Hind Fauj and Anglo-American forces. Unfortunately, he had to surrender including Netaji. Soon, the plane was left for Tokyo, although the plane crashed into the interior of the Farmosa. It was reported that Netaji died in that plane crash. Netaji’s adventure still inspires millions of Indian youth to do something for the country.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was a great patriot and brave freedom fighter of India. He was a symbol of self-respect and passionate patriotism. Every Indian child must know about them and their work done for the freedom of India. He was born on 23 January 1897 in Cuttack, Odisha into a Hindu family. His early education was completed in his hometown, while he did his matriculation from Presidency College, Calcutta and graduated in Philosophy from the Scottish Church College, Calcutta University. He later went to England and passed the Indian Civil Service examination with fourth place.

He was deeply saddened by the pitiable condition of his countrymen due to the cruel and bad treatment of the British. Instead of civil service, he decided to join the national movement to help the people of India through India’s independence. Netaji was greatly influenced by the patriot Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das and later Bose was elected as the Mayor of Calcutta and then President of the Indian National Congress. Later, he left the party due to ideological differences with Gandhiji. After leaving the Congress party, he founded his forward block party.

He believed that non-violence movement is not enough to get freedom from the British, so chose the violent movement for the independence of the country. Netaji traveled away from India to Germany and then to Japan where he formed his Indian National Army, the ‘Azad Hind Fauj’. He included Indian residents and Indian prisoners of war in his free Indian army to fight the British rule bravely. Subhash Chandra Bose inspired his soldiers with his great words of “Give me blood, I will give you freedom” to free our motherland from the British rule.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is believed to have died in a plane accident in 1945. All hopes of his Indian National Army to fight the British rule had ended with bad news of his death. Even after his death, he is still alive with his zealous nationality in the hearts of Indian people as a never ending inspiration. According to scientific views, he died of a third degree burn due to an overloaded Japanese plane crash. Netaji’s great work and contribution in Indian history will be marked as an unforgettable account.
